A Naming or Re-Naming Ceremony can be arranged for any age.
Becoming a parent can be an exciting, emotional and wonderful experience. Choosing the perfect name for your child has been a carefully thought out process and you will be excited and eager to welcome your child into the world and your family.
Traditionally, christenings were how we celebrated the birth of a child and how we welcomed them into the world. Nowadays, more and more people are choosing to have a naming ceremony instead.
By choosing a naming ceremony, it allows you to have a unique, personalised celebration centred around the story of your child and their special role in your family. You will share your hopes and dreams for your child, and may choose to include the significance of their name and why you chose it or another special touch.
LGBTQ Naming or Re-Naming Ceremony
Changing your name can be one of the most meaningful steps for any person in expressing who you are. The changing of a name acknowledges your journey of discovery and symbolises a new beginning. A renaming or naming ceremony offers a person a life moment, for reflection of their life so far and who they have become. So why wouldn’t you mark this moment with a meaningful ceremony. Bespoke written with only you at its heart.
Some ideas that you could include in your naming or re-naming ceremony could be:
- Signing a naming certificate
- Creating a time capsule or memory box
- Tree-planting
What you can expect from me
- I will arrange to visit you at your home or at a mutually agreed meeting place to discuss the necessary arrangements with you, other family members and/or friends (we can also arrange this by Zoom, Facetime or Messenger if you prefer). Our meeting will last around 1- 2 hours.
- During our meeting, we will talk about your “Bundle of Joy” or “You” as a person (if it’s a re-naming ceremony) and your hopes and dreams for the future. We will discuss any thoughts or ideas you may have for the ceremony. We will also discuss options for venue, music, readings and or poems and whether anyone from your family or friends would like to participate in the ceremony on the day. Together, we can start to create the perfect ceremony for your special day.
- Following our meeting, I can start to create a bespoke ceremony tailored around your thoughts and ideas. We will exchange a written drafts as the ceremony takes shape. There will be the opportunity to send me any revisions or additional ideas as we go along. Once you have approved the ceremony, you can sit back, relax and look forward to your child’s (or your) special day.
